Registro .it’s regulation (version 8.0 of 30 May 2022) restricts registration to people with citizenship, residence or a registered office in a European Economic Area country, Vatican City, San Marino, Switzerland or the United Kingdom. The holder must be an adult. ## What are the naming rules for .it? A .it name has 3 to 63 characters: the letters a to z, digits and hyphens, plus the permitted accented characters. It cannot start or end with a hyphen, nor start with “xn--”. Extended Latin, Greek and Cyrillic characters are accepted, without mixing scripts in one name. - Accented names cover the 24 official languages of the European Union - Registration for one year, renewed automatically at each expiry - The registry collects the holder’s tax code or VAT number ## What does the WHOIS of a .it name show? The .it WHOIS always shows which holder a domain belongs to, but publishing personal data is optional for individuals, sole traders and freelancers: without their consent, those fields are shown as hidden. ## How do you transfer a .it domain name? Every operation on a .it requires its AuthInfo code, assigned at registration; if it is lost, the registrar or the registry can provide it. According to Registro .it’s technical guidelines, a successful change of registrar updates the domain’s expiry date. ## Which projects is .it best for? .it is the address Italian internet users expect. It suits businesses selling in Italy, tourism sites and the Italian version of your site, showing that the offer really targets that market. - **The Italian market**: A local address for your customers in Italy. - **An Italian-language site**: The Italian version of your site gets its natural address. - **Brand protection**: Register the .it so nobody else uses it. ## Other extensions Compare the rules and prices of the extensions we offer. - [.fr9,99 €/year](https://hosterwise.com/en/domain-names/fr/) - [.com14,99 €/year](https://hosterwise.com/en/domain-names/com/) - [.eu12,99 €/year](https://hosterwise.com/en/domain-names/eu/) - [.be9,99 €/year](https://hosterwise.com/en/domain-names/be/) - [.ch10,99 €/year](https://hosterwise.com/en/domain-names/ch/) - [.net16,99 €/year](https://hosterwise.com/en/domain-names/net/) - [.org22,99 €/year](https://hosterwise.com/en/domain-names/org/) - [.de7,99 €/year](https://hosterwise.com/en/domain-names/de/) - [.es9,99 €/year](https://hosterwise.com/en/domain-names/es/) - [.ca13,99 €/year](https://hosterwise.com/en/domain-names/ca/) Prices exclude VAT, calculated at checkout based on your country.
