Hyphens in the 3rd and 4th positions are only allowed for a valid internationalised name (“xn--” prefix), and all two-character names are initially reserved. Internationalised names are offered in many languages. - All characters of an internationalised name must come from the same script - Registration term: up to 10 years in total, renewals included ## What does the WHOIS of a .net name show? As with .com, Verisign does not collect .net registrant details: its WHOIS and RDAP show the registrar, dates and name servers. Registrant data is held by the registrar. ## How do you transfer a .net domain name? A .net transfer follows ICANN’s Transfer Policy: the authorisation code (AuthInfo) is required, and a transfer may be refused within 60 days of creation or of a previous transfer. Under the .net registry agreement, a transfer between registrars adds one year to the term, up to 10 years. ## Which projects is .net best for? .net suits technical services, online tools, hosting companies and network-related projects. It is also a good second extension to protect a brand already registered as a .com or a national domain. - **Technical services**: Online tools, APIs, infrastructure: .net keeps a technical image. - **An alternative to .com**: Name taken in .com? .net stays generic and international. - **Brand protection**: Register the .net to avoid confusion with your .com. ## Other extensions Compare the rules and prices of the extensions we offer. - [.fr9,99 €/year](https://hosterwise.com/en/domain-names/fr/) - [.com14,99 €/year](https://hosterwise.com/en/domain-names/com/) - [.eu12,99 €/year](https://hosterwise.com/en/domain-names/eu/) - [.be9,99 €/year](https://hosterwise.com/en/domain-names/be/) - [.ch10,99 €/year](https://hosterwise.com/en/domain-names/ch/) - [.org22,99 €/year](https://hosterwise.com/en/domain-names/org/) - [.de7,99 €/year](https://hosterwise.com/en/domain-names/de/) - [.es9,99 €/year](https://hosterwise.com/en/domain-names/es/) - [.it8,99 €/year](https://hosterwise.com/en/domain-names/it/) - [.ca13,99 €/year](https://hosterwise.com/en/domain-names/ca/) Prices exclude VAT, calculated at checkout based on your country.
