Under DNS Belgium’s rules, anyone can register a .be: the holder can be an individual or an organisation, and its terms and conditions set no nationality or residence requirement. Registration goes through an accredited registrar.
A .be name has 2 to 63 characters: the letters a to z, digits and hyphens. It cannot start or end with a hyphen, nor have hyphens in both the 3rd and 4th positions. Accented characters used in Dutch, French and German are accepted.

When a .be is registered by an individual, their identification details do not appear in WHOIS unless they explicitly agree. For an organisation, the name, address and e-mail are published; the phone number stays hidden unless agreed.

To transfer a .be, you request a transfer code from DNS Belgium, which e-mails it to the holder. The holder gives it to the new registrar; the code is only valid for a limited time (7 days according to DNS Belgium’s FAQ) and the transfer is carried out as soon as it is entered correctly.
